Zona Industrial do Neiva – 2.ª Fase 4935-232 – Viana do Castelo Portugal +351 258358190 [email protected] www.nunexworldwide.com Founded in 2012, the Portuguese company Nunex Worldwide already assumes a leadership position in the country, manufacturing 100% of the national production of baby and adult diapers, as well as other personal care products. “We saw an opportunity to be the first and only production unit of baby diapers in Portugal,” says José Viana, commercial director, Nunex. “By being in the personal care industry for over 10 years by then, we had extensive experience, the latest technologies and high technical knowledge. It was a bold bet to start the company, but we think that was the ultimate example of entrepreneurship.” The company was founded with a total investment of €9.5 million. In 2017, the company began an investment of more than €17 million for innovation, organizational and productive processes, and added a €3 million investment in 2018. “Our strategic goal is to provide the market with a very diverse range of high-quality products,” explains Viana. Nunex Worldwide produces a wide range of personal and intimate hygiene products, including baby diapers, adult incontinence diapers and wipes for children and adults. Additionally, its latest offerings include underpads, pantyliners and sanitary pads. It is also currently investing in ecological products, so that it can offer a complete personal hygiene range. “We use the most innovative technology in the market, installing fully automated production lines that are subjected daily to rigorous quality tests,” says Viana. “We intend to constantly innovate in the design and adaptation of our products to the needs of the market and the people.” In addition to its brands, Nunex provides private label products for large distribution in many international markets. “The goal is to be a worldwide company, with worldwide distribution and recognition,” says Viana. Currently, Nunex exports to France, England, Spain, Morocco, Angola, the U.S. and Colombia, with plans to expand into Germany, Israel, Venezuela and Nigeria. About 90% of the production leaves the factories located in Viana do Castelo for large national and international retailers, mainly in Europe. “Internationalization is a factor of competitiveness and we want to be more and more competitive,” he states. Nunex Worldwide has an installed capacity to produce 1.5 billion articles per year, which he says is a productive capacity that, undoubtedly, stands out from the competition. In recent years, Viana says the industry has undergone several changes, fostered mainly by the modern lifestyle of parents. “At Nunex Worldwide, we recognize the importance of being attentive to consumers’ behaviors, needs and desires as they are constantly impacted by changes in their lives and new trends. Thus, we believe in the quality of our products and therefore we want to go as far as possible. We want to open new markets and explore different consumers, to test new consumption habits that challenge us.”
